Ambika Devi's Madhubani painting beautifully portrays the essence of devotion to Shiva Bhakti. Within the artwork, a female devotee can be seen worshipping at a Shiva Linga located within the sacred confines of a temple. The Shiva Linga, a representation of Lord Shiva's cosmic energy and potency, symbolizes the boundless and infinite nature of the divine. The devotee reverently offers fresh bilva leaves, which hold great sanctity in their association with Lord Shiva. Shiva Linga worship holds deep spiritual significance, as it is believed to pave the path towards spiritual awakening and liberation (moksha). Serving as a powerful focal point for meditation and spiritual contemplation, the Linga encompasses profound spiritual practices. This painting captures the essence of devotion, spirituality, and cultural identity, reflecting the opulent heritage of the Mithila region and its profound religious beliefs.
