About Jabbar Khatri

Abduljabbar Khatri is a member of the Khatri community, which has been dyers for the previous four centuries. Originally, this community catered to the needs of the locals by employing traditional fabrics and social rituals common in many groups. Tie and dye, block printing, batik print, and screen printing are among their specialties. Jabbar Khatri was born in Kutch into a traditional Khatri family. After a few years of working in the city, Jabar Bhai realised that his true calling was in his ancestral work of hand-block printing. Today, he is a craft entrepreneur who works with a team of craftsmen to make exquisite Ajrakh patterns that are dear to his heart and culture.
