In this Tanjore painting, Sanjay Tandekar paints Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha is worshipped before the start of any venture and is thus called the God of New Beginnings. The four arms of Lord Ganesha symbolise the inner attributes of Manas- the mind, Buddhi- the intellect, Ahamkar- the ego, and Chitta- the conscience. He symbolises intelligence- the buddhi in the human body. He symbolises the supreme consciousness that pervades all and brings order to the universe. His vahana, the mouse, symbolises the mantra which cuts through the sheaths of ignorance, leading to ultimate knowledge represented by Ganesha.

Sanjay Tandekar has been painting for 15 years. He completed his Bachelors in Fine Arts and Masters in Fine Arts from Nagpur. He always had a keen interest in traditional arts and learned Tanjore painting by closely observing the details of art form and is a self taught Tanjore artist. Now his wife and father both are involved in this beautiful art form along with him. He has won several awards and merits for his excellence in Tanjore and other art. 

This painting is made to order and will take 2-3 weeks to be painted once the order has been placed. 22 Carat gold foil has been used to make this painting

Sanjay Tandekar

Sanjay Tandekar has been a painter for the past 15 years. He got his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Fine Arts from Nagpur. He had always had a strong interest in traditional arts, and he was especially eager in learning Tanjore painting. He is a self-taught Tanjore artist who learnt Tanjore painting by meticulously analysing the nuances of the art form. His wife and father are now also interested in this magnificent art form with him. He has received several medals and accolades for his proficiency in Tanjore and other arts, including a Gold Medal at the 2017 National Art Exhibition in Punjab.

Tanjore art, also known as Thanjavur art or Tanjore painting is A Classical South Indian Art Developed In The Late 16th Century In Thanjavur Also Known As Tanjore In Tamilnadu South Indian State. These Tanjore Paintings Evoke A Sense Of Class And Timelessness With Their Alluring Illustrations Of Puranic Scenes. This Ancient Art Form Traces Its Origin To Tanjavur, Capital Of The Erstwhile Chola Empire.  The paintings are characterized by their vibrant colors, intricate details, and the use of gold leaf and precious stones. The paintings depict Hindu gods and goddesses, and religious themes, and are typically done on a piece of cloth or canvas pasted over a wooden board. The base of the painting is typically made from a mixture of limestone paste, sawdust, and tamarind seed, which is then polished to give the painting a smooth finish. The main feature of the paintings is the use of gold leaf, which is applied to the painting using a technique called "gesso work". The gold leaf is applied in thin sheets and then burnished to create a shining effect. The painting is further embellished with the use of precious and semi-precious stones, glass beads, and sometimes even pearls.
