About the Artwork +

Dwarka Prasad paints Shrinathji in this Kavad Painting. Shrinathji is the manifestation of lord Krishna as a seven year old child and is popularly worshipped in the town of Nathdwara. The deity stands in the centre of the niche attended by his devotees. His left arm is raised above his head lifting the great Govardhan Parvat while his right hand rests on his waist. He is adorned in bright yellow clothes and iridiscent jewelllery. Shrinathji has a blue complexion as rain clouds and beautiful features like lotus petals. A soft smile appears on his face as he blesses his devotees who worship him for fortune and happiness.
