This performative art is used for leather puppetry, which is popular in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh. Over time, this performative art also took its place in painting and decorative art.

This elongated door hanging of dragonflies along with marigolds is a unique depiction of amalgamating the beauty of art with functionality. Five dragonflies are aligned in a vertical manner with subsequent gaps, and three marigolds at the end, dangling in a bunch, resemble a tassel-like effect. In the subsequent gaps, a number of small wooden beads are strung to give weight to the art piece. The insects are painted with grace; their elongated, slender bodies with wings are rendered in naturalistic form. The wings are perforated, suggestive of air passing through them, and they fly along with the wind and breeze. The petals of each marigold are rendered precisely, creating a repetitive rhythm and a contrasting balance against the rendition of dragonflies. Painted with shades of yellow and orange, with a red bud, it emphasizes a visual connection to nature. This decorative piece encourages sustainability and the preservation of nature and culture in festive decor.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1194/1498/files/1._Dragonfly_Hanging_in_Tholu_Bommalata_by_Sindhe_Siva.jpg?v=1791783727
