This performative art is used for leather puppetry, which is popular in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh. Over time, this performative art also took its place in painting and decorative art.

Here, at the center of the composition, an elephant is rendered in side profile. The placement of the elephant is still but acquires an essence of rhythm and harmony. The elephant is rendered in a lyrical manner with a lotus-shaped eye, a long, curving trunk with a pointed tusk, and a large ear. The elephant is adorned with ornaments and an embellished cloth placed on its back to sit. Even the face of the animal is intricately decorated with floral patterns. While the tree shown in the composition, along with the rendition of an elephant, is in full bloom, the elephant is holding the trunk of the flower. Each flower, fruit, and the surrounding leaves are rendered precisely in a stylistic manner. Both the animal and the tree symbolise fertility and prosperity, an auspicious motif in Indian culture.

The artist has rendered it in a minimalist manner. Surrounding it, circle-like motifs are drawn to occupy the pictorial space. The composition is framed within a thin rectangular frame, and the background is coloured in deep red.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1194/1498/files/1._Elephant_and_Tree_in_Tholu_Bommalata_by_Sindhe_Siva.jpg?v=1791781884
