Traditionally rendered in natural pigments, gold, and silver leaf on cloth, Pichwai paintings depict the deity across the seasons and festivals of the Pushtimarg devotional calendar, combining fine detail with a scale meant to fill and frame the sanctum itself.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAt the centre of the composition is a monumental sized render of Sreenathji in his iconic pose, with his left hand raised gracefully, symboli of him lifting the Govardhan parvat, in his purple and gold garments with an orange, green and yellow scarf. He is heavily ornamented in pearl and gemstone necklaces accompanied by a flower garland, gold and gemstone arm ornaments and earrings, nath (nosering) and his signature peacock feather headdress, the diamonds on his nose and chin adding to his beauty. His hair is braided with gold and white accesories. He holds a kamal chadi or lotus stalks along with his flute in his right hand and his feet adorned with gold juttis. At his feet, ritualistic Bhog, Paan Beeda (Beetle leaves), Prasad Dibbi, and a Jal Dani (Water Pot) are presented as four peacocks spread their plumage and dance.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAbove the deity are, the Sun God as Surya Narayan, and on their vimanas are Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvati accompanied by Nandi, Narad Muni with a swan, Lord Indra accompanied by Indrani and Airavata and Lord Brahma with Goddess Saraswati accompanied by her swan vahana. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe render is flanked by nineteen panels each depicting the different ways the lord is prayed to by different saints, gopis and female saints, as a family during janmashtami and more. In each of those panels Shrinathji is embodied in his iconic Govardhan dhari pose, with the ritualistic Bhog of Paan Beeda (Beetle leaves), Prasad Dibbi, and a Jal Patra (Water Pot) at his feet. At the bottom are two panels depicting an intense conversation taking place, in the forest, where the devotees share and learn the leelas or stories of Sreenathji. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis composition is foregrounded with peacocks, dancing on the banks of the holy Yamuna river, blossoming with lotuses and live with fishes, as the orange background embodies a starry night.
