His left hand is raised, symbolising the lifting of the Govardhan mountain to protect the villagers from Indra's wrath. His right hand stays folded behind him, holding a kamal chadi and bansuri (flute), By his feet lie the offerings - paan beeda, jal daani (water pot) anf prasad dibbi, along with a footstool. Surrounding the central shrine, gopis carrying pots and offerings stand reverently, while gopas (cowherd boys) tend to a large herd of cows. The cows are specially decorated for Gopashtami, featuring sacred saffron handprints on their coats, symbolising the presence of Krishna and their connection to him as his beloved companions, highlighting his role as Gopala or protector of cows. They are decorated with peacocks feathers on their horns and decorative bells around their necks. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIn the upper register, a lush canopy of mango and banana trees sits beneath celestial chariots (vimanas) bearing devas - Indra Indrayini on Airavata, Brahma - Saraswati on a swan, Shiva-Parvati on Nandi and Narada with his veena and peacock, who shower flowers upon the scene. The lower section depicts calves playing on the banks of the Yamuna river, dotted with lotus blooms.
