This performative art is used for leather puppetry, which is popular in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh. Over time, this performative art also took its place in painting and decorative art.

This cylindrical-shaped lamp is painted with sequences of leaves, coloured in hues of orange, red, yellow, and green, which resonate with the season of autumn. The leaves are rendered in curvilinear and delicate forms, with veins depicted carefully. They are painted with tenderness and freehand in a fluid manner. No rigidity or stiffness is attained in their depiction. Some of the leaves are accompanied by a small flowering bud, delineated with warmth and grace, symbolising the arrival of a new beginning. This kind of art is used in decoration and soothes one’s mind and demonstrates hope and happiness. Along with the leaves, the dragonflies are also rendered with remarkable naturalism. Though sketched without any use of colour, there is a sense of movement, hovering and gently taking flight across the surface.

The base of the cloth of the lamp is perforated with holes, allowing the light to refract and illuminate every corner of the residential and commercial space. Hence, by integrating traditional art, one can achieve functionality and utility in contemporary times.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1194/1498/files/1._Leaves_and_Dragonfly_Lamp_in_Tholu_Bommalata_by_Sindhe_Siva.jpg?v=1791783014
