This performative art is used for leather puppetry, which is popular in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh. Over time, this performative art also took its place in painting and decorative art.

Standing on the stylised flower-like pedestal, the peacock is rendered in an enlarged, zoomed-in view. The anatomical details of the peacock are precisely done. Standing on the pedestal, the peacock attains a lyrical beauty and graceful attire. In indian culture, the peacock is associated with beauty, fertility, and prosperity and is considered the national bird of India. The bird’s physical beauty emphasises balance and harmony within the composition. Every detail, from the crowned head to the slender beak; the feathers with floral motifs and patterns, is rendered simplistically but with ornamental details. As the artist has used no colour, rendered with only contours, lines, and sketching, its beauty speaks for itself.

The corners of the composition are adorned with decorative layered angles and further enclosed within a border. The backdrop is coloured in solid black, giving contrast and clarity to the pictorial space.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1194/1498/files/1._Monochrome_Peacock_in_Tholu_Bommalata_by_Sindhe_Siva.jpg?v=1791782479
