The painting depicts a lady playing a musical instrument (sitar/veena). There is a river full of bloomed lotuses in front of her. She is surrounded by peacocks and peahens. Behind her are two stylised trees, each with a peacock and numerous other birds on it. All of which have come to hear her play.
