The painting depicts the story of Parvati worshiping Shiva before marriage, while the focus of his life remained meditating. She has come to him with her confidant and maidservant, and is praying for her desire to marry him. Shiva sits under a naturally depicted tree. In the background we can see persian styled mountains, which suggests the amalgamation of the Rajasthani and Mughal style of art.
