In the artwork, Phad artist Kalyan Joshi depicts Lord Vishnu seated on Sheshnag (the divine serpent) with devotees around and fish motifs. Lord Vishnu is one of the principal deities in Hinduism and is considered the preserver of the universe. He is often depicted as reclining or seated on the coiled body of Sheshnag, the serpent deity. Sheshnag represents the infinite cosmic space and serves as the divine couch or throne for Lord Vishnu. This portrayal symbolizes Vishnu's supreme authority and control over the entire cosmos. The presence of devotees around Lord Vishnu in Phad art signifies the devotion and reverence that people have for Vishnu as their protector and preserver. The presence of fish motifs alludes to the Matsya Avatar of Lord Vishnu. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu took the form of a fish (Matsya) to save the world from a catastrophic deluge.
