Apindra Swain paints this Pattachitra of the Story of Krishna. The artist has illustrated Lord Krishna and Radha surrounded by Gopis in the forest of Brindavan. A universal symbol of the divine bond of togetherness, this painting depicts the transcending emotion of eternal love and sacrifice. The enchanter of the word Krishna is enchanted by Radha-the Supreme Goddess are together called the feminine and masculine realities of God. Around this centre, the Vishnu Dashavatar- ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu is also illustrated. The corners of the main frame have small illustrations of Lord Krishna's Leelas. Krishna's birth, childhood and youth primarily compose of his Lilas as he steals butter earning him names like Maakhan Chor (the Butter Thief), playing the bamboo flute and seducing gopis with the sultry sound of the bansi or flute earning him the name Mohan or Mesmerizer and spending his time with his friends in the forest herding cows earning him names like Gopala (the Protector of Cows).
