Raas Leela: The Night of Devotion and Dance in Pichwai by Shehzaad Ali Sherani

This magnificent Pichwai painting by master artist Shehzaad Ali Sherani depicts the sacred event of the Raas Leela, performed on Sharad Purnima, which is the divine dance of Lord Krishna with the Gopis of Vrindavan on the night of the full moon.

The central composition is visually dominated by the circular dance formation of the Raas Leela, set on a stippled, light-colored ground that represents the moonlight-drenched sands of Vrindavan. The painting showcases the mystical nature of the dance: in the centre, Shrinath Ji, stands with two gopis (in maroon and red attire), surrounded by multiple identical figures of Lord Krishna, each paired with a Gopi, creating a seamless and beautiful illusion of a single continuous, sacred circle. The entire scene is set against a lush, detailed Vrindavan forest backdrop with densely patterned green palms, trees and flowering plants. A large, prominent white full moon is positioned at the top, confirming the setting of the dance on the most auspicious Sharad Purnima night.

The detailed foreground and borders enhance the devotional atmosphere. A row of white cows with colorful ornamentation stands directly beneath the main scene, with a border of pink and white lotus flowers symbolising purity and auspiciousness. Additional groups of devotees, musicians, and Gopis are clustered on the sides of the dance circle, participating in or witnessing the Lila. In the uppermost register, stylized celestial figures are seen floating on clouds, emphasising that the event is a divine spectacle. The painting exemplifies the rich detail, devotional intensity, and use of strong outlines and jewel-toned colors characteristic of the Pichwai tradition.

Domestic Orders

All prices are inclusive of GST and applicable Indian taxes.

• We offer free shipping on orders above ₹999 for all artworks, except Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri.
• A flat shipping rate of ₹249 applies to orders below ₹999.

Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri

Shipping is charged on a per-kilogram basis, due to the delicate and bulky nature of these items.

International Orders

• A flat shipping charge of ₹4,000 applies to international artwork orders.
• Customs duties, taxes, or import charges in the buyer’s country are not included and must be borne by the buyer.
• Shipping rates for Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri artworks will be calculated based on weight.

Extra charges may be applicable for both domestic and international deliveries in the following cases:

• If the article requires additional packaging (such as a wooden crate) to ensure safe shipping due to its delicate nature.
• Custom-framed artworks.
• Artworks where shorter side exceeds 36 inches or Decor items with any side over 35 inches.
• If you request express shipping. Contact support to check availability.
• The order contains more than two different product types.
