Meldi Mata and 16 Mother Goddesses in Mata ni Pachedi by Sanjay Chittara

This magnificent textile painting is a profound and intricate example of Mata Ni Pachedi by the acclaimed artist Sanjay Chittara. Mata Ni Pachedi is a traditional religious art from Gujarat, where artists hand-paint cloths with natural dyes to create sacred shrines and narrative backdrops for the mother goddesses.

This particular artwork is a Chandarvo of Mata Ji, a form of painting that was traditionally displayed on the ceiling of the temple, and this piece is executed traditionally. In the centre is Meldi Mata, seated majestically on her mount, the Goat, within an ornate, multi-layered shrine. She is surrounded by a complex circular composition of the mother goddesses: there are thirteen mother goddesses in the inner circle and twelve mother goddesses in the outer circle. This intricate composition includes figures such as Sagat Mata on a bull, Bahuchar Mata, Shakti Mata, Sarasvati Mata, Hadaksha Mata, Ambe Mata, Solanki Mata, Gel Mata, Dasha Mata, Koyal Mata, and Durga Mata.
This dense, circular arrangement is highly symbolic, as the circle itself represents the Garba dance that is played during Navratri.
The piece is a masterpiece of intricate patterns, vibrant colors, and meticulous line work, with a rich, dark background that contrasts beautifully with the vivid reds, whites, with a touch of yellows, and black outlining of the figures. This painting is a testament to Sanjay Chittara’s artistry and his ability to transform a traditional art form into a visually stunning and spiritually charged work of devotion.

Domestic Orders

All prices are inclusive of GST and applicable Indian taxes.

• We offer free shipping on orders above ₹999 for all artworks, except Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri.
• A flat shipping rate of ₹249 applies to orders below ₹999.

Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri

Shipping is charged on a per-kilogram basis, due to the delicate and bulky nature of these items.

International Orders

• A flat shipping charge of ₹4,000 applies to international artwork orders.
• Customs duties, taxes, or import charges in the buyer’s country are not included and must be borne by the buyer.
• Shipping rates for Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri artworks will be calculated based on weight.

Additonal Shipping Charges

Extra charges may be applicable for both domestic and international deliveries in the following cases:

• If the article requires additional packaging (such as a wooden crate) to ensure safe shipping due to its delicate nature.
• Custom-framed artworks.
• Artworks where shorter side exceeds 36 inches or Decor items with any side over 35 inches.
• If you request express shipping. Contact support to check availability.
• The order contains more than two different product types.

All artworks are handmade and couriered securely packed in a tube.

This artwork will be Made to Order and will take 2-3 weeks to be made and shipped. Returns are not applicable on Made To Order artworks.
