The Divine Pair: Lord Venkateswara and Goddess Padmavati in Tanjore Art by Sanjay Tandekar

This striking Tanjore painting by artist Sachin Tandekar, a hallmark of traditional South Indian artistry, presents a powerful dual depiction of revered deities, Lord Venkateswara (Balaji) and Goddess Padmavati, a form of Goddess Lakshmi. On the right, Lord Venkateswara is depicted in his iconic standing posture, his dark complexion beautifully contrasted by the profusion of gold leaf and bright colors. He is adorned with an elaborate golden crown, intricately layered necklaces and armlets, all shimmering with gold leaf and set with colorful stones in shades of pink, green, blue and white. His attire is richly detailed with vertical stripes and patterns in various hues.

To the left, Goddess Padmavati stands in an equally grand shrine. Her form is similarly bedecked with resplendent gold jewelry and a majestic crown, her garments featuring intricate designs in a palette of gree, blue, and gold. Her posture exudes grace and divinity, mirroring the grandeur of the Lord.

Both deities are encased within magnificent arched Prabhavalis, meticulously crafted with intricate gold leaf work that creates a raised, tactile effect. These shrine structures are further embellished with a profusion of colorful semi-precious stones, set against a deep indigo or black background that allows the gold to radiate intensely.

The entire composition is framed by a broad, ornate border, featuring repeating square patterns and intricate floral motifs in gold and dark red, enhancing its ceremonial grandeur and echoing the sacred architecture found in South Indian temples. This painting, with its dazzling luminosity, rich texture, and meticulous embellishments, offers a profound darshan of these revered deities, embodying blessings of wealth, spiritual grace and divine protection, all masterfully brought to life through the distinctive and timeless Tanjore technique.

Domestic Orders

All prices are inclusive of GST and applicable Indian taxes.

• We offer free shipping on orders above ₹999 for all artworks, except Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri.
• A flat shipping rate of ₹249 applies to orders below ₹999.

Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri

Shipping is charged on a per-kilogram basis, due to the delicate and bulky nature of these items.

International Orders

• A flat shipping charge of ₹4,000 applies to international artwork orders.
• Customs duties, taxes, or import charges in the buyer’s country are not included and must be borne by the buyer.
• Shipping rates for Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri artworks will be calculated based on weight.

Additonal Shipping Charges

Extra charges may be applicable for both domestic and international deliveries in the following cases:

• If the article requires additional packaging (such as a wooden crate) to ensure safe shipping due to its delicate nature.
• Custom-framed artworks.
• Artworks where shorter side exceeds 36 inches or Decor items with any side over 35 inches.
• If you request express shipping. Contact support to check availability.
• The order contains more than two different product types.

All artworks are handmade and couriered securely packed in a tube.

This artwork will be Made to Order and will take 2-3 weeks to be made and shipped. Returns are not applicable on Made To Order artworks.
