About the Artwork +
This gallery wall presents seven captivating works by award-winning artist Manoj Tekam, whose intricate Gond art celebrates the spiritual and ecological harmony of the natural world. The collection is unified by Tekam’s signature use of repetitive dots and fine lines (bharti), creating a rhythmic texture that brings ancient tribal cosmology to life with a modern graphic clarity. Arranged in a thoughtful, non-linear composition, these pieces collectively explore the "Tree of Life" as a central sanctuary where flora and fauna coexist in a sacred, eternal cycle.
The series is anchored by several unique interpretations of the Tree of Life, each highlighting a different facet of nature's vitality. The first piece features a vibrant green bird guarding its nest within a majestic, monochrome canopy, symbolizing protection and the beginnings of life. This is complemented by three other "Tree of Life" variations: one depicting a robust tree with a concentric maroon trunk sheltering stylized yellow birds, another featuring a surreal fusion where the sacred tree emanates from the back of a fish, and a final radiant version where the tree pulses with fiery orange and ochre hues, acting as a luminous sanctuary for spirit messengers.
The narrative shifts toward the animal kingdom with three pieces focusing on the grace and spiritual significance of the deer. A central, mesmerizing composition depicts a single golden deer standing out against a monochrome herd, symbolizing the alertness and sacredness of every individual creature. Two further works explore the Tree and Deer motif: one captures the symbiotic relationship of wildlife resting beneath a flourishing canopy laden with reddish-brown mangoes, while the other features a surrealist design where a deer’s neck seamlessly transforms into a tree trunk, physically embodying the Gond belief in the absolute interconnectedness of all life. Together, these seven paintings by Manoj Tekam invite the viewer into a meditative celebration of a world where every branch, bird, and beast is part of a single, thriving spiritual ecosystem.
These paintings have 1 inch mount 0.5-inch frame.
