In our fast-paced world, we often want to make a change by adopting sustainable practices but we don't always know how to do it. One of the major sources of waste in our everyday lives is the excessive use of packaging materials. However, we can stay in style and reduce waste at the same time by upcycling our own waste into beautiful gift wraps. In this tutorial, we will show you how to make a paper bag from materials that you already have at home. This is a simple and easy way to add a personal touch to your gift-giving while also being eco-friendly.
Materials:
- Newspaper
- White paper
- Fevicol
- Stapler
- Scissors
- Masking tape
Instructions:
- Collect all the materials needed for making the paper bag.
- Fold the newspaper in half, leaving a small portion of the edge.
- Apply Fevicol to the edges and fold them inside to create a neat seam.
- Flatten all the sides of the bag, leaving one side open and the other side covered for the base. Fold the open side in a triangular shape and stick it to the bag's body.
- Open the bag from the inside to adjust its shape before the Fevicol dries up.
- Take a white paper and cut it in half.
- Fold both halves into a strong strip to create support for the bag's handles.
- Paste the white paper strips inside the bag, where the handle stripes would be placed from outside, to reinforce the handles.
- Cut two long strips of newspaper and keep folding them inside and outside simultaneously till a pointed edge is created.
- Roll the pointed edge to create two handles.
- Staple the handles at the mouth of the bag.
- Secure the stapled area with a masking tape.
Your paper bag is now ready. You can further decorate it with stickers, ribbons, or other creative elements to make it more attractive and personalized. This simple and eco-friendly paper bag will add an extra touch of thoughtfulness to your gifts.
