In this rich and beautiful Warli Art, Dilip Bahotha paints the Tribal Warli Community. With a majestic tree in the center offering shelter and shade, the painting stresses the significance of how the tribal lifestyle relies heavily on trees in more ways than one. Residing in small hamlets called "padas," consisting of clusters of huts, the tribes practiced a communal way of living sharing resources, and responsibilities, and celebrating important occasions collectively. The painting features small figures of men and women engaged in mundane practices of daily life. With people farming, mothers tending to their children, women drawing water from a well and carrying it on their heads, and other daily chores. Since farming is the tribe's way of living, they have immense respect for nature and wildlife for the resources that they provide. The painting also features a tribal celebration through a tarpa dance. Men and women entwine their hands and move in a circle around the tarpa player. The Warli tribal way of life is deeply rooted in their relationship with nature, sustainable practices, community cohesion, and cultural expressions.
