This vibrant Pichwai painting by Jayesh Sharma beautifully encapsulates the grandeur of Annakoot, a joyous celebration in honor of Govardhan Puja, which follows Diwali. At the heart of the composition stands Lord Shrinathji, a divine manifestation of Krishna, adorned in lavish garments and jewelry, radiating spiritual splendor.
He is flanked by two priests (Goswami's), lovingly offering service, their expressions filled with devotion. The central focus of the painting is the majestic mountain of food—the Annakoot itself—carefully arranged in front of the deity as a symbolic offering of gratitude for Lord Krishna’s protection during the lifting of Mount Govardhan. This massive food display is composed of sweetmeats and delicacies, artistically rendered to resemble a mountain, surrounded by pink lotuses, adding to the sacred aura. The upper part of the painting showcases decorative panels filled with miniature depictions of Lord Shrinathji in various moods and ornaments, reflecting the diversity of seva (service) throughout the year.
The bottom panel captures a scene of Daan Leela—in which Lord Krishna stops the gopis and asks for a tax. This is a divine play emphasizing love, surrender, and the intimate relationship between Krishna and his devotees.
