This is a beautifully handcrafted decorative clay vase in Khavda Pottery by Abdul Kumbhar.
Khavda pottery is an ancient, centuries-old craft from the Kutch district of Gujarat, India. Traditionally practiced in Khavda and neighboring Gundiyali villages, it relies on a specific local mud called "Rann ki Mitti" and is intricately hand-painted using entirely natural pigments, reflecting styles that date back to the Indus Valley Civilization. Before painting, the pots are coated with Geru, a red soil that gives the pieces their characteristic earthy, reddish-brown color. The decorative motifs are then applied using black (derived from ground black stone) and white (from local white clay).
This vase is decoarted by wavy patterns and circular perforations, enabling its use as a lamp holder as well. A signature element of Khavda pottery is the precise use of white and black dots arranged in specific arrays over a terracotta base.
Note: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Handle with care. Ready in approximately 2 days. Securely packed for safe transit. Available as a set and an individual piece.
