Usta art, also known as Ustaad Shagird tradition, is a traditional form of Islamic miniature painting that originated in the Mughal courts of India. Usta artists, known as Ustads, are highly skilled craftsmen who meticulously paint on various surfaces such as paper, silk, and even walls.
