This exquisite Pichwai painting by Jayesh Sharma displays a serene and beautifully balanced water scene featuring two elegant swans swimming in a sacred lake.
Pichwai is a traditional cloth-based painting from Nathdwara, Rajasthan, primarily created to adorn the backdrop of the sanctuary of Shrinathji (a seven-year-old child manifestation of Krishna) and is known for its intricate detailing and rich, vivid colors.
The lake is rendered in broad strokes of sky blue, slate grey and white to mimic shifting water currents. Floating gracefully in the center are two large swans. The swan on the right glides ahead, its long neck arched, and looking behind, while the swan on the left mirrors it, looking towards it while swimming closer. Both birds are painted in soft shades of off-white and grey, with delicately layered, fine brushstrokes that create the soft texture of feathers. Their yellow beaks and detailed, expressive dark eyes add a sharp point of contrast to their gentle bodies.
Scattered across the water's surface is a beautiful array of traditional lotus flora that completely frames the swimming birds. Numerous green lotus leaves along multiple fully bloomed, pink lotus blossoms and small, closed pink lotus buds float gently alongside the swans.
The entire scene is encased in a sophisticated border that frames the artwork and provides a formal finish. A thin, stark red line forms the inner border, separating the central field from a wide yellow main band. This wide band features a continuous, undulating green vine adorned with small pink rosebuds and delicate green leaves. A final solid red frame bounds the entire piece, grounding the bright color palette and providing a clean, striking finish to the organic and highly detailed interior.
Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.
