This Pichwai painting by Naveen Soni presents a richly detailed devotional composition centered on Shrinathji, the child form of Krishna, standing majestically beneath a moonlit sky. Originating from Nathdwara in Rajasthan, Pichwai paintings serve as backdrops to idols of Shrinathji. In this beautiful composition, the deity is adorned with elaborate garments, pearl and lotus bud garlands and ornaments, with a peacock feather headdress, holding a lotus stick in one hand, while his other hand lifted up symbolically holds the govardhan mountain. his dark form radiates spiritual presence against the luminous backdrop, decorated with a serene gaze, benevolent expressions and a smile, along with a braid at the side. By his feet are offerings - a box of prasad, jaldani or water pot and beeda or betel leaf. Four gopis flank him, gazing reverently.
Behind Shrinathji rise stylized banana leaves and architectural elements, framing him within a sacred shrine-like setting. The night sky, dotted with stars and a full moon, creates a serene and divine atmosphere, with celestial chariots, while the surrounding landscape is carefully articulated with lotuses, trees, and patterned grounds.
Encircling the central scene is an ornate narrative border composed of multiple small panels depicting devotional rituals. Each panel is rendered with fine detailing and vibrant colors, transforming the entire textile into a visual scripture. At the bottom, the festival of Govardhan puja is depicted, where a mound of rice or Annakut is made to symbolise the Govardhan mountain. Rows of cows and devotees emphasize Krishna’s identity as Govardhan-dhari and protector of cattle or Gopala, reinforcing themes of devotion, pastoral abundance, and divine grace. The saffron handprints on the bodies of the cow show Krishna's presence and blessings, while the row of lotuses reflects purity and abundance, also symbolic of the Yamuna river.
The painting reflects the traditional aesthetics of Nathdwara Pichwai art, characterized by intricate ornamentation, vivid pigments, and devotional storytelling. Through its layered composition and meticulous craftsmanship, the work becomes not merely a painting, but a sacred object meant to inspire contemplation, devotion, and celebration of Krishna’s divine presence.

Returns and Replacements
We offer replacements or repairs if your artwork arrives damaged or has a quality issue. As each artwork is handcrafted, we do not accept returns or refunds for orders received in the expected condition.
Delivery Timeline
Ready To Ship/In Stock artworks are shipped in 3-4 days. We only accept return requests for Ready to Ship/In stock artworks placed within a week from date of delivery. However, no returns can be accepted for international deliveries.
