In this vibrant Madhubani painting, Ambika Devi explores the theme of solar reverence through a highly symmetrical and layered composition. The artwork is centered on a large, radiating Sun Mandala that serves as the primary source of light and life for the surrounding environment.
The face of the Sun God is rendered with a bright yellow complexion, featuring large, watchful eyes and a prominent red tilak on the forehead. This central icon is enclosed within several concentric decorative rings, including a band of pink scalloped petals and a series of sharp, orange solar rays that project outward. The intricate use of Kachni (fine-line work) within these rings adds a shimmering, textured quality to the celestial body.
The background is a deep, solid blue, which provides a striking contrast to the warm tones of the sun. This space is filled with flowing black vines and pink blossoms, suggesting a garden in constant bloom. To anchor the composition, the four corners are adorned with large orange lotuses. These lotuses, detailed with delicate grey lines, symbolize purity and the grounding of divine energy on earth.
The entire work is framed by a sophisticated triple border. An inner green geometric band is followed by a middle orange-and-pink zigzag pattern, all contained within a thick, solid black outer margin. This heavy framing directs all visual attention back to the central mandala, emphasizing the sun's role as the heart of the cosmic order.

Returns and Replacements
We offer replacements or repairs if your artwork arrives damaged or has a quality issue. As each artwork is handcrafted, we do not accept returns or refunds for orders received in the expected condition.
Delivery Timeline
Ready To Ship/In Stock artworks are shipped in 3-4 days. We only accept return requests for Ready to Ship/In stock artworks placed within a week from date of delivery. However, no returns can be accepted for international deliveries.

Madhubani art, also known as Mithila art, originates from the Mithila region of Bihar, India, and is celebrated for its intricate patterns, vibrant colors, and profound cultural significance. Traditionally created by women on walls and floors during auspicious occasions, these paintings depict Hindu mythology, nature, folklore, and daily life, often incorporating Hindu deities, scenes from epics, and natural motifs like flowers and animals. Legend suggests its origins trace back to King Janak's commission for Sita's wedding. Artists traditionally use natural pigments from plants and minerals, applied with homemade bamboo and cotton brushes, filling the entire surface with fine detail. While some contemporary artists use synthetic paints, many maintain traditional methods. The art form gained international recognition in the 1960s and has since expanded to various mediums beyond walls, including canvases and textiles.
