The central figure is the ten-armed Goddess Durga, standing majestically atop her lion mount. She is rendered with a serene yet determined expression, wearing an elaborate crown and traditional jewelry, including a prominent nose ring. Each of her ten arms holds a divine weapon, such as the trishula (trident), gada (mace), and chakra (discus), as she plunges the trident into the neck of the demon Madhishasura. Her attire is a vibrant display of the Bharni style, featuring a red skirt decorated with white diamond patterns and an orange dupatta that flows behind her.
Below the goddess, the battle is depicted with dramatic detail. Her lion, painted in a bright orange with a finely detailed grey mane, lunges at the buffalo. From the neck of the white buffalo, the demon Mahishasura emerges in human form, depicted with a grey complexion and a defiant smile as he looks up at the goddess. The background is split into two distinct sections: a green upper field filled with white polka dots and hanging floral garlands, and a lower field featuring a dense, red-and-white diamond checkerboard pattern that represents the blood-soaked battlefield.
The entire composition is enclosed within a sophisticated diamond border, consisting of repeating red, blue, and white geometric shapes. The artist utilizes meticulous Kachni (line-work) to define the intricate textures of the lion's mane, the pleats of the goddess's garments, and the fine details of the divine weapons. Through this blend of vibrant color and rhythmic patterning, Ambika Devi creates a visual narrative that celebrates the eternal victory of good over evil.

Returns and Replacements
We offer replacements or repairs if your artwork arrives damaged or has a quality issue. As each artwork is handcrafted, we do not accept returns or refunds for orders received in the expected condition.
Delivery Timeline
Ready To Ship/In Stock artworks are shipped in 3-4 days. We only accept return requests for Ready to Ship/In stock artworks placed within a week from date of delivery. However, no returns can be accepted for international deliveries.
Once your order is placed, our team stays in constant communication with the artist to track the progress and ensure the quality of your order. You will receive regular updates from us throughout this process.

Madhubani art, also known as Mithila art, originates from the Mithila region of Bihar, India, and is celebrated for its intricate patterns, vibrant colors, and profound cultural significance.
