This extraordinary, five-sided Tholu Bommalatta Lamp by master artist Kanday Anjanappa is a magnificent shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu, blending the rich tapestry of Indian mythology with the exquisite craft of leather shadow puppetry. Illuminated from within, the light transforms these divine stories into a glowing gallery of heroic deeds and profound spiritual lessons for your space.
The canvas of the lamp unveils legendary scenes from the Hindu epics. The central face captures the profound lesson of the Tulabharam story, depicting how Queen Satyabhama's vast material wealth fails to outweigh Lord Krishna on a scale. The narrative beautifully concludes as the scale is balanced only by a single, humble Tulsi leaf offered by Rukmini, proving that devotion far outweighs all material arrogance and riches.
The remaining panels illuminate other key avatars and events. One side depicts the pivotal Mahabharata War, with Lord Krishna serving as the divine charioteer, guiding the Pandavas toward Dharma (righteousness). Another face showcases the fierce, man-lion form, Narasimha, slaying the demon Hiranyakashipu, with the devotee Prahalada as witness, establishing the timeless victory of good over evil. The drama continues with the final showdown of the Ramayana War, portraying Lord Rama prepared to unleash his arrow, accompanied by Lakshmana, Lord Hanuman, and the Vanara Sena, destined to defeat the demon king Ravana. The last face celebrates the joyful life of Lord Krishna, depicting his enchanting leelas (divine acts) with Radha and the Gopis within sacred groves.
Rendered in the signature Tholu style—the figures and architectural details are highlighted by a palette of beautiful warm colors. Returns and Replacements
We offer replacements or repairs if your artwork arrives damaged or has a quality issue. As each artwork is handcrafted, we do not accept returns or refunds for orders received in the expected condition.
Delivery Timeline
Ready To Ship/In Stock artworks are shipped in 3-4 days. We only accept return requests for Ready to Ship/In stock artworks placed within a week from date of delivery. However, no returns can be accepted for international deliveries.
