This exquisite embroidery is set within a traditional architectural frame, featuring two vertical golden pillars topped with purple capitals and a scalloped pink arch. At the base of the composition sits a small, brown earthen pot decorated with white zig-zag patterns, from which a lush "Tree of Life" emerges. This central vine winds upward in elegant, dark green silk threads, sprouting a variety of multi-colored blossoms in shades of purple, red, and pale yellow.
The embroidery is populated by several stylized birds, a hallmark of the Chamba tradition, rendered in vibrant silk threads. At the top, a bird with a blue head and golden-yellow wings is captured in flight, while lower down, birds with green and pink plumage are nestled among the swirling tendrils. The artist uses the traditional double-sided satin stitch (known as do-rukha), which ensures that the intricate floral and avian patterns appear identical on both sides of the cream-colored fabric. Through this delicate handwork, Anjali Vakil preserves the regal heritage of Himachal Pradesh, turning a simple piece of cloth into a garden of eternal spring.
