Zardosi is an opulent Indian embroidery technique that utilizes gold and silver metallic threads to create elaborate, raised designs on textiles, while Mata ni Pachedi is a traditional Gujarati ritual cloth painting, created by the Vaghri community, used as a portable shrine or backdrop for the mother goddess (Mata) and known for is strong narrative flow and red, black and white color scheme. This composition features a beautiful tree of life in the center, with a sturdy brown trunk and branches curving upwards, with a lush green foliage dotted with yellow, orange, blue and white blossoms and birds. The tree is situated on a mound made with curved domestic adorned with floral motifs, under which the aquatic life is depicted - with fish, turtles etc. swimming in the blue waters and algae growing at the based. Under the tree rests a herd of white cows and calves, beautifully adorned with gold and orange detailings. The painting is set against a sky blue background, framed by a border of multiple women holding pots on their heads, dressed in traditional Indian attire - ghagra, choli and odhani. This painting emphasizes on the importance of environmental factors like trees, cattle, water, aquatic life to humans and how each element of nature exists in perfect harmony. Returns and Replacements

Delivery Timeline
Ready To Ship/In Stock artworks are shipped in 3-4 days. We only accept return requests for Ready to Ship/In stock artworks placed within a week from date of delivery. However, no returns can be accepted for international deliveries.

Mata ni Pachedi is a traditional folk art form from Gujarat, India, created by the nomadic Vaghari community, known for its vibrant depictions of Hindu goddesses, particularly the mother goddess, Mata. Literally translating to "behind the goddess," these artworks were traditionally used as backdrops in shrines, evolving from portable shrines created by the marginalized Vaghari community who were denied temple entry. Characterized by bold, dynamic compositions with the goddess at the center, surrounded by devotees and symbolic animals, the art uses an earthy palette of black, red, and white, symbolizing protection, strength, and purity, respectively. It is traditionally created on cotton cloth using natural dyes, with outlines drawn using a bamboo stick dipped in black dye made from jaggery and iron, and colors filled in from natural sources like turmeric and indigo. This labor-intensive process results in intricate designs and patterns, making Mata ni Pachedi a profound expression of devotion, a testament to the Vaghari community's resilience, and an important part of India's cultural heritage.
