This compelling Gond painting by master artist Sukhiram Maravi presents a powerful and stylized depiction of a pig, an animal with significant cultural and spiritual meaning in the Gond tradition. Originating in the tribal Gond community, which lives in close communion with nature, these paintings portray a strong belief that every aspect of nature is animate and sacred.
This painting is a fantastic example of Gond art's blend of intricate detail and symbolic storytelling. It features a pig, an animal whose nature is completely transformed in the presence of Besahi Mata. The artist captures the creature with its snout in the ground, conveying a sense of quiet focus—a stark contrast to its typically skittish nature. This calm demeanor is the central theme of the artwork, showing the pig's peaceful state under the goddess's influence.
The pig's body is a striking contrast of patterns and colors. Its back is a dense, dark brown mosaic of circular and linear motifs, which beautifully contrasts with the rest of its body, covered in a lighter geometric pattern of interlocking squares. Returns and Replacements
We offer replacements or repairs if your artwork arrives damaged or has a quality issue. As each artwork is handcrafted, we do not accept returns or refunds for orders received in the expected condition.
Delivery Timeline
Ready To Ship/In Stock artworks are shipped in 3-4 days. We only accept return requests for Ready to Ship/In stock artworks placed within a week from date of delivery. However, no returns can be accepted for international deliveries.
Once your order is placed, our team stays in constant communication with the artist to track the progress and ensure the quality of your order. You will receive regular updates from us throughout this process.
All MeMeraki artworks are hand-painted. In rare occasions, artist may face delays due to weather, health, prior commitments or force majeure. Our team will reach out to you with revised timelines in case of such delays. We appreciate your understanding and patience in such situations.
