About the Artwork +

Enter the realm of divinity, through this mesmerising Pichwai painting by Shehzaad Ali Sherani, beautifully capturing the holy presence of Shri Rishabhnath Ji, the first Jain Tirthankara. At the center of the composition, Shri Rishabhnath Ji sits in a meditative lotus or padmasana posture, hands in dhyanamudra and his expression radiating deep serenity and wisdom. His elegantly adorned crown and intricate jewelry highlight his spiritual prominence, while the golden throne on which he sits enhances the grandeur of the painting. Flanking him on both sides are two celestial attendants, gracefully dressed in saffron and gold attire, holding fly whisks (chamaras) and lotus stems in a gesture of devotion and reverence. The background is a delicate fusion of soft earth tones of beige and red adorned with intricate floral patterns and creating a harmonious setting for the deity. A key highlight of this masterpiece is the depiction of Shri Rishabhnath Ji’s Lanchana (symbol), the cow, positioned in the foreground against a muted blue base. The cow, painted in white, represents purity, nourishment, and selflessness, embodying the essence of the Tirthankara’s teachings. The entire composition is framed with a bold red border, emphasizing the depth and richness of the artwork. This Pichwai is a testament to Shehzaad Ali Sherani’s remarkable artistry, blending spiritual devotion with traditional craftsmanship, making it a timeless and sacred piece of art that resonates with divine energy and Jain heritage.
