This is a beautifully handcrafted decorative clay flower vase in Khavda Pottery by Abdul Kumbhar.
Khavda pottery is an ancient, centuries-old craft from the Kutch district of Gujarat, India. Traditionally practiced in Khavda and neighboring Gundiyali villages, it relies on a specific local mud called "Rann ki Mitti" and is intricately hand-painted using entirely natural pigments, reflecting styles that date back to the Indus Valley Civilization. Before painting, the pots are coated with Geru, a red soil that gives the pieces their characteristic earthy, reddish-brown color. The decorative motifs are then applied using black (derived from ground black stone) and white (from local white clay).
This is a detailed flower vase that highlights the different regional patterns of Kutch including linear, dotted and floral designs, while also giving us a glimpse at the ecological setup of the region.A signature element of Khavda pottery is the precise use of white and black dots arranged in specific arrays over a terracotta base.
Note: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Handle with care. Ready in approximately 4 days. Securely packed for safe transit. Available as a set and an individual piece.
Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.
