This vibrant Pichwai painting by artist Naveen Soni presents a bold, geometric interpretation of Shrinathji set against a striking optical maze backdrop. Pichwai is a traditional devotional textile painting art form from Nathdwara, Rajasthan, historically created as sacred backdrops for the shrine of Shrinathji, a seven-year old manifestation of Krishna, to celebrate seasonal festivals, ritual shringars and sacred leelas within the Pushtimarg tradition.
At the center of the composition, Shrinathji is depicted in his revered posture with his raised left arm lifting Mount Govardhan and his right hand held at his waist. The deity is rendered in a deep indigo complexion, adorned with layered pearl and lotus garlands, a golden mukut, and a white vastra. In his right hand, he holds lotus stalks (kamal chadi) and his flute. His face is decorated with serene eyes (netra) and he wears two diamonds, one on his nose and the other on the chin. A row of pink lotus buds blooms upon small, rippling water waves directly beneath his orange-golden pedestal.
Framing the sacred figure is a stark, modern background composed of four large quadrangles filled with concentric blue and white labyrinthine stripes. By surrounding the classic iconography of Shrinathji with rigorous optical geometry, Dinesh Soni creates a striking dialogue between centuries-old Pushtimarg devotion and contemporary graphic abstraction.
Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.
