In this vibrant composition, the divine couple is depicted reclining or seated amidst a lush, dense forest. Krishna, shown with his traditional blue complexion and a radiant yellow halo, tenderly reaches out towards Radha. Radha, with a warm orange complexion, is elegantly dressed in a blue-dotted sari and ornate jewelry, including large circular earrings and a nose ring. Originating from the Mithila region of India, Madhubani paintings are a vibrant folk art form traditionally created by women using fingers, twigs, and matchsticks to depict nature and mythology through intricate geometric patterns. Both figures are adorned in highly detailed garments featuring stripes, dots, and floral patterns rendered in the Bharni (color-filling) style, using a rich palette of red, yellow, green, and turquoise.
The couple is surrounded by a thicket of winding green branches laden with small orange fruits and red blossoms, representing the fertile groves of Vrindavan. The central scene is uniquely framed within a diamond-shaped border, at the corners of which swim four large, stylized fish. These fish are intricately decorated with colorful scales and large, watchful eyes, serving as symbols of fertility and good fortune that protect the divine union.
The entire rectangular work is enclosed within a sophisticated beaded border. This border consists of small, alternating red and orange circular "beads" set against a black and white background, followed by a solid black outer margin. By utilizing fine Kachni (line-work) to define the delicate leaves and the scales of the fish, Ambika Devi creates a sense of rhythmic energy that encapsulates the joy and harmony of the divine romance.

Madhubani art, also known as Mithila art, originates from the Mithila region of Bihar, India, and is celebrated for its intricate patterns, vibrant colors, and profound cultural significance.
