Colorful Coexistence: Deer and Birds in Gond By Kailash Pradhan

Kailash Pradhan's Gond painting captures deer and birds. Originating in the tribal Gond community, which lives in close communion with nature, these paintings portray a strong belief that every aspect of nature is animate and sacred. At the heart of the composition is a herd of deer, their forms interwoven in a dance of interaction and movement. Surrounding the deer are several birds, rendered in bright, intricate patterns, perched and flying around them. The dynamic gestures of the animals and birds, interacting with each other, symbolize the social bonds and playful spirit of wildlife.

This painting showcases three of Kailash Pradhan's signature styles, the unique star- shaped pattern, called "Cher Chera", inspired by the Gond community's Cherchera festival; Parsa Paan pattern which resembles betel leaves, which are offered as a symbol of respect at significant events like weddings and social gatherings, and are also used in traditional medicine for digestion and respiratory issues amidst the Gond tribe; and the Khaddar pattern, inspired by the fibres of Khadi cotton cloth. The vivid patterns and colors like reds, yellows, blues, greens and oranges with black outlines used by the artist against the white background enhance the aesthetic appeal of the painting and also convey deeper meanings rooted in Gond mythology and beliefs.

The artwork beautifully reflects upon the harmonious existence and interconnectedness of all living beings in nature, a central theme in Gond philosophy, functioning as a testament to the traditional knowledge and cultural legacy of the Gond community, making it a unique, vibrant and symbolic addition to any space.

We ship worldwide, Our Prices are inclusive of GST/Taxes in India. For international orders, any specific custom duties you may encounter in your home country during the delivery has to borne by the buyer.

For all artworks except Lippan and Terracotta, we offer free shipping on orders above ₹999, a ₹249 flat rate is applicable to smaller order amounts.

Our standard shipping rates are not applicable for custom framed artworks.

For international artwork orders shipping charges of 4000 INR* are applicable.

For Lippan and Terracotta Artworks, We charge a Shipping rate on a per Kilogram basis.

*Extra charges may apply for both domestic and international deliveries in the following cases:

• International artwork orders where the artwork's smaller side measures more than 36 inches.

All artworks are packed and couriered securely in a tube.

Ready To Ship/ In Stock artworks are shipped in under 2 weeks. We only accept return requests for Ready to Ship/ In stock artworks placed within a week from date of delivery. However, no returns can be accepted for international deliveries.

Made To Order artworks will take 2-3 weeks to be made and shipped once they are ready. Returns are not applicable on Made To Order artworks.

Once your order is placed, our team will stay in constant communication with the artist to track the progress and ensure the quality of your order. You will receive regular updates from us throughout this process.
