Nizamabad's black pottery has a fascinating history that dates back centuries. It finds its roots in the local communities' traditional craft practices, passed down through generations. Ramjatan Prajapati's black pottery plate stands as a testament to the exquisite craftsmanship rooted in the ancient traditions of India. This unique pottery hails from Nizamabad, a town in Azamgarh district, Uttar Pradesh, renowned for its rich heritage in crafting these distinctive pieces.
To create this black pottery, artisans like Ashish Prajapati use a specialized technique. The pottery is crafted using a blend of clay and powdered glass, which imparts a unique sheen to the final product. After molding the desired shape, the pottery is traditionally fired using leaves, sawdust, and rice husk in a controlled environment, giving it the characteristic black hue.
Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.
