Dhal and Khanjar in Koftgiri by Shyamalata Gahloth

This framed Koftgiri ensemble by artist Shyamlata Gahlot is a masterful tribute to the martial heritage of Rajasthan, featuring a central Dhal (shield) flanked by two matching Khanjars (daggers). The composition is a study in symmetry and contrast, where the circular geometry of the shield provides a powerful anchor for the elegant, downward-sweeping curves of the daggers. Every inch of the darkened steel surface is transformed by the "Teh-Tula" technique, where pure silver wire is painstakingly hammered into the metal to create a shimmering tapestry of floral arabesques and traditional Mewari scrolling vines.

The Dhal (shield) serves as the artistic focal point, featuring a radiant central medallion surrounded by concentric bands of intricate silver work that represent the protective nature of the warrior’s spirit. The two Khanjars are identical in their ornamentation, with their hilts and scabbards meticulously inlaid to match the shield’s motif, creating a unified ceremonial set. The silver blossoms and leaves are rendered with such precision that they appear to float atop the matte black steel, catching the light at different angles to create a sense of depth and luxury.

Presented in a deep shadow-box frame, the set is mounted against a vibrant red velvet ground, a color that carries deep cultural weight as a symbol of the "Valour and Shakti" of the Rajput nobility. The use of the red background against the silver-on-steel weaponry creates a regal, museum-quality presentation that honors the 500-year-old Mughal legacy of Udaipur. By distilling the traditional armory into this specific three-piece arrangement, the artist bridges the gap between historical combat and modern fine art, showcasing the delicate craftsmanship that has earned her national acclaim.

Domestic Orders

All prices are inclusive of GST and applicable Indian taxes.

• We offer free shipping on orders above ₹1999 for all artworks, except Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri.
• A flat shipping rate of ₹499 applies to orders below ₹1999.

Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri

Shipping is charged on a per-kilogram basis, due to the delicate and bulky nature of these items.

International Orders

• A flat shipping charge of ₹4,000 applies to international artwork orders.
• Customs duties, taxes, or import charges in the buyer’s country are not included and must be borne by the buyer.
• Shipping rates for Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri artworks will be calculated based on weight.

Additonal Shipping Charges

Extra charges may be applicable for both domestic and international deliveries in the following cases:

• If the article requires additional packaging (such as a wooden crate) to ensure safe shipping due to its delicate nature.
• Custom-framed artworks.
• Artworks where shorter side exceeds 36 inches or Decor items with any side over 35 inches.
• If you request express shipping. Contact support to check availability.
• The order contains more than two different product types.

All artworks are handmade and couriered securely packed in a tube.

This artwork will be Made to Order and will take 2-3 weeks to be made and shipped. Returns are not applicable on Made To Order artworks.
