This exquisite blue pottery plate by Shilp Guru Gopal Saini is a vibrant example of traditional craftsmanship. The plate features a central circular motif, reminiscent of a blooming flower, with a yellow and green design accented by a small blue flower at the center. The surrounding pattern radiates outward in a series of petal-like segments.
Each segment alternates between blue, green, yellow, and brown hues, creating a harmonious blend of colors. The design within these segments includes intricate floral and leaf patterns, with a distinctive use of pink dots to add depth and detail. The blue segments are decorated with small white and pink flowers, while the green and brown segments feature elegant, swirling leaf motifs.
The artistry and craftsmanship involved in creating this piece are evident in the detailed work and precise use of colors. The plate is a testament to the traditional blue pottery technique, which involves using a unique mixture of quartz, raw glaze, sodium sulfate, and multani mitti (Fuller's Earth).
