This is an exquisite Tanjore Painting by artist Sanjay Tandekar, showing Lord Tirupati Balaji standing in a temple mandapam (archway), richly adorned with real gold leaf and semi-precious gemstones.
Tanjore (Thanjavur) Painting is a classical South Indian art form known for its elaborate composition, vibrant colors, iconic relief work, and extensive use of gold leaf and semi-precious stones, primarily depicting Hindu deities.
At the center of the composition is Lord Tirupati Balaji (a form of Vishnu). He is the eternal symbol of preservation, wealth, and divine blessing. The Lord is shown as a towering figure, standing within a highly intricate, multi-tiered gold-covered archway supported by detailed columns. His form is completely covered in a dense layer of gold foil, set with brightly colored semi-precious stones in green and red, giving the painting a three-dimensional, luminous effect. His face bears the distinctive white and red Tilak (mark), and he holds the sacred conch and chakra. The columns and arch are decorated with figures of birds and floral motifs, all heavily embossed in gold. The use of gold and semi-precious gemstones elevates the artwork from a painting to a rich, sculptural icon.
The color palette is incredibly deep and dramatic, dominated by a deep black background which sharply contrasts with the vast amount of shimmering gold leaf used for the deity and the temple architecture. Striking accents of vermilion red frame the arch and pedestal, while subtle highlights of pink, green, and orange are used in the enormous garland and in the colored stones. The pattern is one of overwhelming symmetry and opulent detail, emphasizing the sacred geometry of the temple space and the wealth symbolized by the deity.

Returns and Replacements
