This framed artwork, "Threads of the Universe," is a masterpiece of textile art by Anwar Husen Khatri, executed on silk using the baatbaandh technique, which fuses batik (wax-resist dyeing) and bandhani (tie-dyeing) to capture a cosmic theme.
The central field, meant to represent the vastness of the galaxy, is dominated by swirling, concentric waves of deep indigo and turquoise blue, effectively mirroring the Milky Way’s flowing energy.
Numerous small and large white stars dot the field, while several golden spheres and ovals, including a large partial one on the left, symbolise celestial bodies, glowing against the dark space, adhering to the theme of the eternal dance of planets, stars, and galaxies.
This stunning textile is a masterpiece of technical skill, uniting the fluid lines of Batik (wax-resist) with the fine detail of Bandhani (tie-dye). The intricate resists beautifully translate the infinite cosmos into fabric, offering a piece of soulful artistry for your walls.
