Bio

In the quaint village of Budhina Khurd, situated in the heart of Muzaffarnagar district, Gauhar Fatma defied entrenched socio-cultural norms, becoming a symbol of female empowerment. Amidst the challenges of caring for her ailing husband and nurturing four obedient children, Gauhar embraced the path of an artist.

With tenacity and courage, she embarked on a unique journey, weaving charpoy stools that found their place at local village weddings, fetching her a meager Rs. 30 (less than half a dollar) per stool. Her impact reached far beyond her individual craft, as Gauhar's unyielding determination spurred over 50 women to join her artistic voyage.
