This Gond painting by Kailash Pradhan portrays a majestic bird standing frontally, its wings fully extended in a gesture that suggests pride and vitality.
Originating in the tribal Gond community, which lives in close communion with nature, these paintings portray a strong belief that every aspect of nature is animate and sacred.
The bird’s body is richly ornamented with star-like motifs and scalloped patterns in vibrant reds and pinks, while its expansive wings unfold in brilliant greens and oranges, filled with fine parallel lines that create rhythm and texture. Its head is adorned with crown-like extensions tipped with multicolored forms, enhancing its regal presence. The symmetrical composition emphasizes balance and harmony, a recurring theme in Gond visual language.
The detailing across the wings and torso creates a layered surface, where every space is activated through careful pattern work. The dotted bands and curved motifs connect the sections of the body, giving the impression of movement even within a frontal, stable pose.
This painting showcases three of Kailash Pradhan's signature styles, the unique star- shaped pattern, called "Cher Chera", inspired by the Gond community's Cherchera festival; Parsa Paan pattern which resembles betel leaves, which are offered as a symbol of respect at significant events like weddings and social gatherings, and are also used in traditional medicine for digestion and respiratory issues amidst the Gond tribe; and the Khaddar pattern, inspired by the fibres of Khadi cotton cloth.
Through its bold symmetry, luminous palette, and intricate ornamentation, the painting transforms the bird into a symbol of festivity, spiritual energy, and the living spirit of nature expressed through Gond artistic tradition.
Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.

Returns and Replacements
We offer replacements or repairs if your artwork arrives damaged or has a quality issue. As each artwork is handcrafted, we do not accept returns or refunds for orders received in the expected condition.
Delivery Timeline
Ready To Ship/In Stock artworks are shipped in 3-4 days. We only accept return requests for Ready to Ship/In stock artworks placed within a week from date of delivery. However, no returns can be accepted for international deliveries.
