Jhitku Mitki’s Eternal Love Story

This Dokra craft piece, created in 45 days using the ancient lost-wax technique, relates to
the poignant tale of Jhitku and Mitki, a legendary love story from the Bastar region of
Chhattisgarh. The narrative originates from Pendrawan village in the Kondagaon district,
where a Gond tribal family lived. The family had seven brothers and one sister, Mitki, who
was dearly loved by all. The brothers sought a groom who would live with them as a
house son-in-law, leading them to arrange Mitki's marriage with Jhitku. However, in a
tragic turn of events, Mitki's brothers sacrificed Jhitku, prompting Mitki to take her own
life as well. Today, this star-crossed couple is revered as deities in Bastar, and their story is immortalised in sculptures such as this, which depict Jhitku with musical instruments
and Mitki with a bamboo basket.

These artworks are exclusive national award winning pieces and are available for view and purchase for the very first time for NCR residents at ‘Kaarigar Sangam at the Kunj’ and are exclusively available for patrons outside Delhi through MeMeraki. These are being sold at no commission and are inclusive of GST , however shipping and packaging will be charged separately. Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.

We ship worldwide, Our Prices are inclusive of GST/Taxes in India. For international orders, any specific custom duties you may encounter in your home country during the delivery has to borne by the buyer.

For all artworks except Lippan and Terracotta, we offer free shipping on orders above ₹999, a ₹249 flat rate is applicable to smaller order amounts.

Our standard shipping rates are not applicable for custom framed artworks.

For international artwork orders shipping charges of 4000 INR* are applicable.

For Lippan and Terracotta Artworks, We charge a Shipping rate on a per Kilogram basis.

*Extra charges may apply for both domestic and international deliveries in the following cases:

• International artwork orders where the artwork's smaller side measures more than 36 inches.
• Extra charges are applicable for Express Shipping. Contact support to check availability for your order.
• Orders with more than 2 product types in the cart.

All artworks are handmade and couriered securely packed in a tube.

This artwork will be Made to Order and will take 2-3 weeks to be made and shipped. Returns are not applicable on Made To Order artworks.

All MeMeraki artworks are hand-painted. In rare occasions, artist may face delays due to weather, health, prior commitments or force majeure. Our team will reach out to you with revised timelines in case of such delays. We appreciate your understanding and patience in such situations.
