This exquisite terracotta sculpture by Dolon Kundu masterfully captures the poignant moment from the Ramayana where Lord Rama bestows his Padukas (wooden sandals) upon his devoted brother Bharata. The intricately detailed piece is set against a beautifully carved backdrop of lush foliage, enhancing the depth and grandeur of the composition. At the center, Lord Rama, seated regally with a calm and compassionate expression, extends his Padukas to Bharata, who kneels before him in humble reverence. Rama’s serene demeanor, adorned with garlands and traditional ornaments, reflects his divine grace and unwavering commitment to dharma. To his left, Goddess Sita, draped in an elegant sari, sits gracefully with a raised hand, symbolizing blessing and support, while Lakshman, standing behind Rama, holds a bow, signifying his constant vigil and devotion. The craftsmanship in their facial expressions, clothing folds, and intricate jewelry demonstrates remarkable artistry.
