This wooden carving by Ajit Kumar depicts a captivating scene of five elephants marching in a line, with each elephant following the one in front of it, ascending an inclined bench or ramp. The composition creates a sense of movement and progression, as if the elephants are embarking on a journey together. The largest elephant leads the march, displaying a commanding presence with its magnificent tusks and regal posture. It exudes strength and wisdom, guiding the group with a steady and confident stride. The other four elephants follow closely, their trunks held high, showcasing unity and coordination as they ascend the inclined bench. The incline of the bench adds a dynamic element to the carving, symbolizing the challenges and obstacles that the elephants overcome together. Despite the varying sizes and ages, the unity of the group is evident, with the youngest elephant, a playful and endearing baby, mirroring the steps of its elder companions.
