This piece is a sandalwood artifact crafted by Kapil Jangid. This intricate artwork showcases a non-functional pocket watch with elaborate carvings, highlighting the fine craftsmanship and attention to detail typical of Jangid's work. Apart from intricate carvings, this piece has various hidden compartments that feature iconic monuments like the Taj Mahal and Red Fort. The perimeter of the circle is adorned with a series of detailed floral motifs, adding an element of natural beauty to the piece.
Attached to the top of the circular piece is an ornate hinge, which connects to a chain. The chain itself is composed of several rectangular segments, each carved with geometric designs, linking together to form a cohesive unit. The chain extends to a total length of approximately 6 inches. The uniformity and precision of the carvings on both the circular piece and the chain segments reflect the high level of skill and artistry involved in its creation.
The sandalwood used provides a warm, rich tone and a smooth texture, enhancing the visual and tactile appeal of the piece. Overall, this artifact exemplifies the traditional art of sandalwood carving, infused with contemporary design elements by Kapil Jangid.
