About the Artwork +

In the artwork "Dreams of Mother Trishala in Jain," by Shehzaad Ali Sherani, the auspicious dreams of Devananda and Queen Trishala at the moment of Jina Mahavira's conception are vividly portrayed. From upper left to lower right, the dreams unfold: a magnificent elephant, a majestic bull, a merry lion, Shri, the goddess of wealth with lotus flowers, fragrant flower garlands descending from the sky, the moon's pure reflection, the sun leading the planets, a grand flag on a golden pole, a golden jar brimming with pure water, a lotus-filled perfumed lake, the milky Sea under moonbeams with fish, a celestial palace of perpetual joy, a heap of jewels, and a bright, smokeless flame. Sherani's artistic interpretation masterfully encapsulates the richness and significance of these auspicious dreams in the Jain tradition.
