The Pattachitra painting depicts an episode from the Chandimangal, a revered Bengali epic centred around Goddess Durga, worshipped as Trinayani, the three-eyed mother. Painted on cloth in the intricate, luminous style of the scroll tradition, the artwork portrays Durga’s descent to the mortal world with her four children—Lakshmi, Saraswati, Kartik, and Ganesh—to perform a sacred puja. The narrative follows Kalketu, a devout servant under a tyrannical king, and Srimanta, whose quest to free his imprisoned father is guided by divine intervention. Durga, concealed in mortal guise, ultimately reveals her fierce, 18-armed form to the stubborn king, compelling him to release Srimanta and begin the worship of Durga. The painting was completed over 6 months.
These artworks are exclusive national award-winning pieces and are available for view and purchase for the very first time for NCR residents at ‘Kaarigar Sangam at the Kunj’ and are exclusively available for patrons outside Delhi through MeMeraki. These are being sold at no commission and are inclusive of GST , however shipping and packaging will be charged separately.
