In Madhubani art, artist Vibhuti Nath artfully delineates Lord Krishna with his flute near a tree with a peacock sitting on a branch, and running cows. Lord Krishna is a prominent deity in Hinduism and is considered the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He is often depicted as a divine musician who played the flute, captivating not only human beings but also animals and even nature itself. This aspect of Krishna's life represents his ability to enchant and bring harmony to the world. The presence of the peacock, a bird closely associated with Krishna, symbolizes his divine connection with nature and his ability to bring joy to all living beings. The imagery is inspired by the mythological story of Lord Krishna playing the flute in the forests of Vrindavan. According to Hindu texts, Krishna's melodious tunes on the flute had a mesmerizing effect on all living creatures. The cows, in particular, were enchanted by his music and would gather around him. This scene symbolizes the blissful, idyllic life of Krishna as a cowherd in Vrindavan.

Madhubani art, also known as Mithila art, originates from the Mithila region of Bihar, India, and is celebrated for its intricate patterns, vibrant colors, and profound cultural significance. Traditionally created by women on walls and floors during auspicious occasions, these paintings depict Hindu mythology, nature, folklore, and daily life, often incorporating Hindu deities, scenes from epics, and natural motifs like flowers and animals. Legend suggests its origins trace back to King Janak's commission for Sita's wedding. Artists traditionally use natural pigments from plants and minerals, applied with homemade bamboo and cotton brushes, filling the entire surface with fine detail. While some contemporary artists use synthetic paints, many maintain traditional methods. The art form gained international recognition in the 1960s and has since expanded to various mediums beyond walls, including canvases and textiles. Distinct styles like Kachni (line art), Bharni (filling art), Godna (tattoo art), Tantrik (spiritual), and Kohbar (marriage rituals) exist, each with unique characteristics.
